When we told you that our DSTRCT.Berlin received WELL pre-certification some time ago, we hoped we’d follow up with some exciting news one day. And the moment has come: DSTRCT.Berlin has just been granted WELL certification at the Gold level, proving that the space is safe and supports people’s physical and mental well-being. When we started the process, we were the pioneers of change; certifying workspaces and ensuring they met the strictest well-being standards wasn’t very common in Berlin. A lot has changed since then, but our DSTRCT.Berlin still remains one of the few workspaces that have been certified as a spot where people have the best conditions to thrive.
How well do you have to do to obtain WELL?
When assessing workspaces, IWBI follows a strict framework. The criteria determining whether a space is suitable for WELL certification fall into several categories: air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, or mind.
The institution conducts measurements over several days onsite and several weeks off-site, assessing air quality for various pollutants (CO2, VOCs, PM2.5, PM10, etc.), water quality, and user-friendliness of the furniture, to name a few. The data collected is needed to calculate the final score. Depending on the score, the certification is granted at either the Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum level. Having been granted Gold certification just a few points away from the highest level means DSTRCT.Berlin fulfills some of the strictest criteria for a healthy workspace, and spending time there working or for leisure has the potential to have a positive impact on people.
