HB Reavis set to begin work on Stanica NIVY a new supra regional shopping destination for Bratislava
HB Reavis has received the green light to start work this summer on Stanica NIVY, a new supra regional shopping destination and international bus station in Bratislava, after successfully gaining construction consent. The project will play a significant role in reviving this part of the city and will create a new social hub with an excellent retail mix, outstanding services along with a fantastic food offer.
Designed by London architects Benoy and local architecture practice Siebert+Talas, the mixed-use scheme will deliver 70,000 sq m of retail space, a 30,000 sq m office tower and a new 30,000 sq m international bus station. The plans will also include reconstruction of the nearby Mlynské Nivy street.
“We are looking forward to start construction of Stanica NIVY, which will play an important role in transforming this tired looking part of the city. With NIVY we are creating a new vibrant social hub, with excellent shopping and food, for those who live locally and further afield to come and enjoy. We are also proud to be adding much needed green space to our city.” said Adrián Rác, Chief Executive Officer of HB Reavis Slovakia.
One of the scheme’s stand out features is the 3,000 sq m fresh food market offering quality seasonal goods and home-made products, making Stanica NIVY a real foodie destination. In addition, the green rooftop garden the size of two football pitches with a running track and chill-out zones will create a new quality green public space, encouraging relaxation among families and those who work or visit. The scheme is expected to attract over 50,000 visitors daily when it opens in 2019. As many as 20,000 travellers are expected to use the new fully integrated bus station on a daily basis, making Stanica NIVY the new gateway to Bratislava.
The developer is also working to develop a new cable car system to connect both banks of the Danube River to alleviate traffic during the construction process as well as improve the city’s overall infrastructure long term.
“We are thrilled to be a part of the Stanica NIVY mixed-use scheme that is set to reinvigorate the area. A customer and environmental-centric project, the NIVY project will consist of leading retail and food and beverage offerings, while incorporating green spaces in the form of a rooftop garden and provide overall strong transport links, allowing residents and tourists alike to enjoy this dynamic hub,” said Robert Bishop, Director – Head of Europe Studio, Benoy.
The entire project is being financed by HB Reavis, representing a total investment volume of €345m (€270m for the international bus terminal, shopping mall and marketplace, €75m for the office building). The project works also include a significant investment by HB Reavis into the area’s technical and transportation infrastructure in the region of €24m.
