West Station II construction enters final stage
Scheduled to open in September, the second office building next to the Warszawa Zachodnia station has recently topped out. After the glass façade has been erected, finishing works are now launched inside the building. West Station II totals 38,000 sq m of leasable office space and the U-shaped building will be home to some 4,000 workers.
A traditional topping out marked the completion of the building structure at West Station II in late February. This major milestone in the development includes the elevation composed of 4 500 glass panels, weighing about 420 kg each. The busiest period of construction at West Station II involved as many as 500 workers backed by four cranes, with the building put up at a rate of one storey per week. The two remaining cranes and the scaffolding will be dismantled by mid-April.
“We are already ahead of schedule. Over the next few months, we will continue the finishing works and we will run the building utility systems by early June. Most inspection procedures will be carried out by the relevant authorities during the summer holidays. We are planning to put West Station II into operation in the third quarter of 2017,” says Jan Hübner, Country Construction Officer at HB Reavis Construction.
Finishing works will soon start at West Station II, including the installation of flooring and suspended ceilings as well as the fit-out of individual floors for future tenants. The floor in the reception area will be decorated with Indian granite, while its walls will be finished with wood and Corian, a mix of acrylic resin and natural minerals. In addition, two terraces overlooking the Warsaw city skyline await the local employees on the 10th floor of the building. Each of its two lift lobbies will be provided with five lifts ensuring quick access to any of the building’s 14 floors above ground.
Every floor in West Station II offers approximately 2,500 sq m of office space. Depending on the final layout, the building can accommodate even up to 4,000 employees, who will have access to 500 parking spaces for cars and 100 bike stalls at the underground car park, where finishing works are also underway and markings are being painted. With Warszawa Zachodnia station located only a stone’s throw away, employees will also enjoy easy access to most means of public transport available in Warsaw.
West Station is a joint project of HB Reavis, PKP S.A. and Xcity Investment located at Aleje Jerozolimskie in Warsaw and made up by two Class A buildings (the first one opened last Autumn) offering a total of 68,000 sq m of leasable space. West Station was certified “Excellent” against the BREEAM Interim scheme.
