HB Reavis awarded impressive score under the UK’s Considerate Constructors Scheme for 20 Farringdon Street
HB Reavis Construction UK has been awarded an impressive score of 41/50 by the Considerate Constructors Scheme for its 20 Farringdon Street project in London, placing it in the top rated performance tier.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme is an initiative set up by the construction industry to improve its image. All those who register with the scheme are monitored against a Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements.
The scheme assesses contractors on all areas of construction activity that may have a direct or indirect impact on the image of the industry as a whole. The assessment results in a report focused on five scored areas: appearance, community, environment, safety and workforce. HB Reavis scored highest under appearance, winning 9 out of 10 available points.
The report on 20 Farringdon highlights the intent, effort and care that has gone into promoting the industry. It says: ‘The site is softened by well-maintained floral displays, everything is immaculate and presented in its best light. Information including the TV monitor loop is comprehensive, more than is normally seen, and complemented by a viewing area of the works that provides an image of the industry at work, which is likely to alter perceptions.’
The development was also commended for engaging with the community, with measures such as a bulletin board featuring with updated news and information on the project and local area. There is also an ‘Instagram cut-out window’ which looks onto the site encouraging the public to photograph and share images of construction.
“The Considerate Constructors Scheme is nationally recognized throughout the industry and it demonstrates our commitment to engage with our neighbors and surrounding community, whilst protecting the environment. With the average industry score for 2017 being 35.6, we are extremely proud of our achievement of 41. We are very much focused on continuous improvement and raising the image of our industry” says Paul Neto, Managing Director of HB Reavis Construction UK.
