We are proud to announce the identity of our latest London development, Cooper & Southwark
Located at 61 Southwark Street, Cooper & Southwark marks the first refurbishment scheme for HB Reavis in the UK, and our first development south of the river.
The name of this new workspace is a reference to the rich history of barrel making that was once common in this now vibrant cultural area. Traditionally, a cooper is a professional maker, someone who crafts wooden vessels bound together with hoops, such as casks, barrels and buckets. Cooper & Southwark pays tribute to good and hard work done in this neighbourhood in the past, and looks to the promise of work to be done in the future.
Working with designs by architects TateHindle, HB Reavis will transform an outmoded, nine-storey concrete office block into a quality and vibrant offering , adding additional floor space, terraces on the top three floors, and a new self-contained unit on Great Guildford Street for a total of 77,000 sq ft. It will be an inspiring and sophisticated workplace for enlightened occupiers, among creative neighbours and a buzzing neighbourhood.
Additionally, the site is only a stone’s throw away from major cultural institutions like the Tate Modern, Borough Market, one of the most popular food and drink destinations in London and provides strategic transport connections to London Bridge, Blackfriars and Waterloo Station.
Cooper & Southwark is due for completion in Q4 2017. It is the third development in our London market portfolio, alongside 33 Central and 20 Farringdon Street.
