Varso Tower is the largest building in Europe with the WELL Gold certificate
The Warsaw skyscraper developed by HB Reavis has received the prestigious WELL Core & Shell certificate. This innovative system uses knowledge from scientific research and confirms that Varso Tower meets the standards for healthy construction. A Gold rating means the building was designed with care for the people working in it, their comfort and safety.
WELL is a science-based standard by the International WELL Building Institute. It takes into account over 100 building parameters that affect people’s health and physical and mental wellbeing. Issues related to access to fresh air, water quality, lighting, acoustics, thermal comfort, and sanitary safety are examined. The assessment is carried out by independent auditors who verify the design, documentation, and actual functioning of the building.
Among the valued solutions implemented in Varso Tower is an HVAC system that provides offices with much more fresh air than is required by standards. Adiabatic humidifiers ensure health-appropriate humidity. Modern filters stop pollutants and harmful PM10 and PM2.5 dust, as well as allergy-causing pollen and fungal spores. Office workers have access to natural light most of the year because three-quarters of each floor is less than 7 metres from a window.
“We received the final WELL certificate for Varso Tower with great satisfaction. Research shows that buildings designed in accordance with this standard reduce many ailments, such as headaches, fatigue, and breathing problems. They also promote faster regeneration, facilitate focus, stimulate creativity, and reduce stress levels. This is yet another example that our offices in Varso Tower provide excellent working conditions and are in line with the latest ESG trends.” – says Cezary Błaszczyk, commercial director at HB Reavis Investments.
HB Reavis was supported by Hans van de Sanden in the certification process. In addition to WELL, the skyscraper also has other certificates, such as BREEAM at the “Outstanding” level confirming its low energy demand, the WELL Health-Safety Rating and the inclusivity-focused Building without Barriers.
Varso Tower is an office building with an area of 70,000 sq m that was designed by the Foster + Partners studio. This, the tallest skyscraper in the European Union, is part of a mixed-use development by HB Reavis in the centre of Warsaw that includes offices, a hotel, restaurants, cafes, a fitness club and a medical clinic. The central location provides many amenities within walking distance and excellent access to public transport.
