Varso Tower: almost open for business
We’ve completed Varso Tower. It’s a big milestone in the transformation of a brownfield site into one of Warsaw’s urban landmarks.
The first tenants will soon move into the Foster + Partners-designed building. Now the tallest architectural structure in the EU (310m to the tip of its spire), the record-breaking address next to the Warsaw Central Railway Station reached ground level in early 2019, rose above the Palace of Culture and Science in late 2020, and soon after topped out at its 230m full roof height.
With the addition of the spire in February 2021, it became the EU’s tallest building by architectural height – and it also boasts Warsaw’s highest garden, as sixteen trees were planted 206m above ground in mid-2021. A key part of the project is its greenery – another dozen trees decorate the spacious, mosaic-lined lobby and pepper the surroundings.
Varso Tower’s timeless, slender design is emphasised by the boomerang-shaped steps near its summit, while the façade’s vertical divide brings a lightness and elegance to its character.
Its quality was recognised by independent BREEAM and WELL auditors, who certified the building as Outstanding and Gold, respectively.
Totalling 70,000 sq m of ESG-centric workspace, we’re now in the fit-out phase and expect our first tenants to move in this September. Ultimately, the building’s user list will include such firms as cloud specialist Box and international law firms CMS and Greenberg Traurig.
Varso Tower is the final showpiece of our award-winning Varso Place, a mixed-use development offering offices, a hotel, an innovation hub and retail options.
And since we’ve evolved our strategy beyond that of a classic bricks-and-mortar developer, we’ll be holding onto and managing this – and our other – flagship properties.
